The owners of the 30A Skateboard shop asked me to create a themed cake for their son’s 3rd birthday. He is (naturally) in love with all things skateboarding, so that’s where we went with it!

I wanted a more “rough” concrete look on the sides of the cake, and added in some bricks for a fun industrial feel. I made a “wood” floor for the ramp out of fondant and threw on a few orange cones. I was also able to replicate the DC logo and the best part was putting on the 30 board shop logo that I hand painted on some fondant.

This was such a fun cake to create and I was excited to hear that the Birthday Boy thought it was a toy! He wanted to play with it… that’s about the best news I could hear! 🙂

Thanks to the Jerkins family for giving me the opportunity to do something so creative and if you’re out on 30a and looking for skateboarding stuff, check out their shop!
