CA-razy About Cookies!

I think one of the first things I ever did in the kitchen by myself was bake cookies! My mother bought me a Betty Crocker Kids Cookbook and it had an Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe that I used to make all the time. As a matter of fact, I recently pulled that cookbook out and it opened right to that cookie recipe. There was even a fossilized piece of oatmeal stuck to the wrinkled, sugared old page.

Who doesn’t love a cookie. That’s right, it wasn’t a question. There IS no question. Everyone loves cookies. Can we just give the cookie a shout out? The cookie is such a blank canvas. If you learn a few basic cookie doughs, then the possibilities are endless. Cookies can be decadent and gooey, full of caramel and chocolate. They can be loaded with nuts, seeds or healthy fruits. Rolled, pressed, dropped. Sugared, frosted, dipped.Warm, cold or frozen.

“…You can barbecue it, boil it, broil it, bake it, saute it. Dey’s uh, cookie-kabobs, cookie creole, cookie gumbo. Pan fried, deep fried, stir-fried. There’s pineapple cookies, lemon cookies, coconut cookies, pepper cookies, cookie soup, cookie stew, cookie salad, cookies and potatoes, cookie burgers, cookie sandwiches. That- that’s about it.” … Oh wait… That’s shrimp, not cookies.

But you get the point. Cookies. Have. Endless. Options.

One of my favorite cookbooks is this Crazy About Cookies book by Krystina Castella. If you’re looking for the ultimate inspiration on something new to do with your beloved cookie, check out this cookbook. It’ll change your cookie lovin’ life.

Speaking of cookies… this week at the Seaside Farmer’s Market, the Stacey-Cakes booth will be offering a Vegan/Gluten-Free Snickerdoodle, as well as a regular one for you non-allergic types. We’ll also have GF/Vegan doughnuts again and possibly, some cupcakes. Some come on out – load up on some awesome organic produce, fresh dairy goods and all the cookies your little hearts desire.

See you there!
